Adult Vaccinations

Pneumococcal Vaccination

The pneumococcal vaccine protects against serious and potentially fatal pneumococcal infections. It’s also known as the pneumonia vaccine.

Shingles Vaccinations

A vaccine to prevent shingles, a common, painful skin disease, is available on the NHS to people in their 70s.

The shingles vaccine is given as an injection into the upper arm. Unlike the flu vaccine, you’ll only need to have the vaccination once and you can have it at any time of the year.

Travel Vaccination

Holidays need careful planning and you may need some pre travel vaccinations.

Not all travel vaccinations are available for free on the NHS, even if they’re recommended for travel to a certain area. We are able to give polio, tetanus, diphtheria, typhoid, and hepatitis A vaccines.

Appointments can be made with our Practice Nurses or Physician Associates to discuss and plan your travel vaccinations. If possible you should arrange this appointment at least two months before you are due to travel.  PLEASE NOTE DOCTORS DO NOT SEE PATIENTS FOR TRAVEL ADVICE OR VACCINATIONS and our reception team are not clinically trained and thus unable to offer advice on what vaccinations you may need for your upcoming travel plans.

If your trip is complex or extended you may need to seek additional advice from a specialist travel clinic as we are unable to provide hepatitis B, meningitis ACWY, yellow fever, rabies, Japanese encephalitis, tick borne encephalitis vaccines or malaria prophylaxis prescriptions.
